Nazis exterminating Jews; Zionists exterminating Palestinians; Tutsis killing Hutu… that is…one member of the same species terrorizing another member of the same species. This is war. This is genocide. However, there is another pervasive atrocity that our persistent ignorance and blinded arrogance has promoted. It is not "within" species but it is "amongst" and "between" species.
It is called "Species-ism" and it is defined as a prejudice or attitude of bias in favor of the interested members of one species against the interest of the members of different species or, shall we say, against another "Earthling". Earthling is defined simply as one who inhabits the Earth. The term encompasses each and every one of us, warm or coldblooded, mammal, vertebrate or invertebrate, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish and human alike.
