Daniel Coates was born on April 1st 1975 in Sydney, Australia. His song-writing career started abruptly in a bathtub in Virginia, USA in 2005 when he spontaneously started singing "Digest it with your Guru Belly" the words to his first song "Gurubelly". This later became the first song on his debut album "Connect".
In that moment Daniel's passion for conscious song-writing was born and over the following 2 years of travelling in the USA, Brazil, Argentina, the UK, Europe and Australia the rest of the songs for "Connect" took shape.
"The Universe Gets High" explores how the Universe is always working in our favour to the point where it always wants more for us than we ask for. "A Higher Place to Be" challenges us to give up our addictions in order to experience higher levels of natural bliss. "Sleeping Shamen" is a call to all to wake up and speak their truth to everyone.
Daniel says about his songwriting "I write by waiting. A riff may wake me up at 1am and the lyrics may come 6 months later. Songs just have to come on their own. When a new song comes it is like a baby, I love it and nurture it to its full expression".
