Bullied because he doesn't like the type of music that youngsters in England commonly enjoy, 13yr old Andrew Johnston shows courage and determination to keep doing what he likes to do. Andrew comes from a "council estate", which means that he lives in community housing provided for by the state system for low income families. Typically, these are places of boredom and violence for young children and sometimes results in disenchanted teenagers who find it difficult to make their way in the world. To have a passion for classical choral music is highly unusual.
I know how much courage it takes to stand out in front of a crowd at that age and sing in a high voice that isn't seen as particularly cool as I too was a choir boy in England, singing every day from age 7 to 16.
